The B.S Of Playing in a Local Band

This is a really well done video of some of the difficulties of local music scenes and being in a band. I recently had a conversation along these lines with a local bar owner who also argued that the reduction in drinking and driving has also hurt 'live music bars'.

Whoah gang, whoa. This little gem just landed on my ears earlier today (courtesy of CBC Radio 2: I love public radio!). So its the lead singer of Fleet Foxes (Robin Pecknold) in a duet with original Grizzly Bear member Ed Droste. It rocks (as much as a folk song can). Anyway check it out because both their bands are way too good for life and side projects aught to be strongly encouraged.

Kasper Rosa - The Live Session

Okay, this is an indie band from Ireland who make pretty interesting postrock music. I really love the idea of them recording themselves jamming (audio & video!) so peeps can check it out their sound and their space and all that. After watching for a few minutes you almost feel like you're in that room with them. I would be definitely interested in a similar production featuring headchannel, perhaps.
